Hacker Halted: Jeff Bardin on the Cyber Intelligence Cycle

Jeff Bardin is the Chief Security Strategist at Treadstone 71, a privately held consultancy, and he discussed cyber espionage and the cyber intelligence cycle at the Hacker Halted Conference in Miami.

Jeff has over 25 years experience in IT and Information Security, Risk Management & Assurance, Cyber Intelligence and Counterintelligence.

Jeff also served for eleven years in the US Air Force and the US Army, as both enlisted personnel and as a commissioned officer. He holds Top Secret Clearances as well as maintaining the CISSP, CISM, and NSA-IAM certifications.


Jeff is a professor at Utica College, teaching Cyber Intelligence and Counter Intelligence, Cyber Terrorism,  and is a cybercrime professor at Clark University teaching Information Security Risk Management.

Presentation Abstract:

"Cyber criminals and nation-states have adopted traditional physical intelligence techniques for the cyber world. This session will examine various CYBINT and OSINT methods used. It will cover information mining of social networking sites and demonstrate some of the tools in use to gathering information on targets of opportunity. We'll examine offensive cyber operations as a method of defense."
